As a former Chair of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, Congressman Connolly has first-hand experience with the transportation challenges our region faces.

He was the leading advocate for Rail to Dulles, which finally opened in 2022. The Silver Line expanded Metro access to ten of thousands of Northern Virginians, taking cars off the road. He’s been a watchdog of Metro in the Congress, holding them accountable for safety lapses and service issues. He helped establish the Metro Safety Commission and preserved the annual $150 million federal capital investment in Metro for new cars and safety improvement. He believes the federal government must join other stakeholders in contributing to Metro’s operating expenditures.

He was proud to support President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the largest investment in Americans roads, bridges, and infrastructure in 70 years. Finally, after years of dithering, America is rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure. Thanks to the Infrastructure bill our region will receive nearly $20 billion in investment.
